David Rawlings, Watercolour Artist

Preferred Media: Watercolour Artist

I began painting in watercolour only after a 35 year career as a teacher (mostly math and science). Now, 20 years later, this retirement hobby has become a full-blown obsession.
Confucius said that everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it. When I paint, I try to paint just the beauty that I see, ignoring all else. This is what fuels my passion for painting. It works! (Well, usually).
I see beauty everywhere I look in the South Georgian Bay Area, especially in weather-worn old farm buildings, abandoned cars, and rusty objects from days gone by.
I also enjoy painting the whitewashed antiquity of Greece and shoreline nautical scenes everywhere.
