Value of Our Volunteers

The Blue Mountain Foundation for the Arts is committed to the volunteers who give their valuable time in the smooth running of the BMFA and fulfilling the many functions necessary to cover all the commitments of our activities.

Arts Center Volunteers

We have 70+ volunteers who offer visitor support at the Arts Centre during hours open to the public. They are usually the first person seen and their cheery welcome is important to making the visitors feel at home. They are also the ones who answer questions concerning the BMFA and give any directions to upcoming programmes. These volunteers are most valuable in the everyday comings and goings of the Arts Centre. The Arts Centre volunteers are coordinated by a small committee who make sure that the building has the volunteers needed during the hours of operation.

Special Programme Volunteers

The Studio Tour, Juried Art Show and Juried Photo Show also require volunteers for their special events, with many hours spent preparing for these shows. The committees welcome new volunteers at any time as they are ongoing throughout the year.

Fundraising Volunteers

The BMFA commits to at least one fundraising event during the year. We have had two golf tournaments and a Hoe Down in the last two years plus other smaller fundraisers.  All these events call for our volunteers.  If a volunteer can commit only for a short time, then this is the way to go.

Tuesday Night Events Volunteers

The last Tuesday evening of each month hosts a 'Tuesday Night at the Arts Center' programme. It could be music, poetry, interesting talks etc.  Volunteers are needed for these events as well. This is a monthly commitment.

Board of Directors

A dedicated group of volunteers take on the important task of the Board. They meet monthly and important decisions are made in regard to the operations of the BMFA. Many on the Board represent the various areas of involvement for the Blue Mountain Foundation of the Arts and report each month. It is the policy of the Board to make responsible decisions for the members, fiscal and otherwise.  The Board changes a few members each year as there are some who retire. If you are interested in applying to join the board, or becoming a volunteer in some other way, we welcome your participation. Please contact Administration through this website or drop into the Arts Centre from Wednesday through Sunday each week.
